Julian [Liam's mate] writes [around 6pm 12th of October];
“Stolen Giant less than an hour ago outside Colchester Avenue Sainsbury’s.
A yellow, black, and white Giant Defy racing bike, medium frame size, no real distinctive features to set it aside from similar models as everything was standard from new, except for its black Shimano spd road pedals.
Hope someone can help”

Not sure if the time/date is wrong, but this looks a bit dodgy to me:

ReplyDeletealso this gum tree post maybe of interest, the bike is also
posted on here along with a few other quite nice bikes...

the police are meant to be getting my bike back atm, will
let you know how it goes and and if any other bikes are
recovered...
Cheers Liam
little update...
ReplyDeletepolice recovered the bike tonight, it was stolen but
unfortunately was not my bike:( looks like Cardiff
stolen bikes are going to Bristol and stolen bikes
from Bristol coming to Cardiff... I'm going to post
the bike on the Bristol blog, also Splott market
sounds like a good place to buy a stolen bike...
Cheers Liam
Shame, could have been a good result. Don't hold out too much hope at Splott market. I had a bike stolen, reported it and saw it the very next day at Splott. Called Policeman over(one usually on duty around the market.) As the stall holder had painted white gloss on the cross bar it no longer fitted the description I had given Police. "Your word against his" as far as the plod was concerned, despite having a crime number and full description filed. This fellow still trades on the market and is able to summon "assistance" should anyone challenge him...be careful.
ReplyDeleteSome good news...
ReplyDeleteI have my bike back! Roath police recovered my bike earlier
on today after seeing some scummy druggy riding a bike round
splott. I guess they realized that it was clearly not his... Happy Now!
Also speaking to the police, regarding the ebay post in the first
comment. The bike was "purchased by the police" two men were
arrested in connection and the bike was stolen... If anyone knows
of any of the other bike for sale on the gum tree ad by the same
man, get in touch with the police.
Also I'd like to thank Dafydd Meurig for this blog. (three people done for bike theft, i got my bike back also others recovered, bit of a result...)
Great to hear that you got your bike back!
ReplyDeleteThe Giant Defy I found on ebay (above) ended and reached £620, but the same item has been relisted, same seller with zero feedback... strange.
